There are over 100 clubs and organizations to choose from, including club sports, Greek life, dance and performing arts, student government, and many more. Membership in all clubs and organizations is open to students from every background and academic program. You can always start a new group if you cannot find what you're looking for. Family Weekend 2025

The next Family Weekend will take place on October 3-5, 2025. This Marist tradition is a fun-filled for students and their families to meet, mingle, and make memories with other members of the Marist community. Every year, Marist presents an exciting schedule with activities for the whole family.

Highlights of the weekend include Friday and Saturday night entertainment, a football game, a food truck tailgating event, and fun activities on campus throughout the weekend. The program concludes on Sunday, and each year, families are invited to attend a campus Mass followed by a barbeque on the Riverfront.

Helping Students Get to Their Destinations

Marist helps students travel with ease. We offer shuttle service throughout the Northeast and to multiple New York City airports in advance of Thanksgiving, Spring, and end-of-semester breaks. The campus is located one mile from the Poughkeepsie train station, which offers Metro North and Amtrack services.

Priority Points and Housing Selection

Involvement in extracurricular activities (including clubs and organizations) is one of four categories contributing to students' priority point total. The Priority Point system is an innovative system that ensures a fair housing selection process for all students.

  • Priority points available to first-year students can be a maximum of 26 points (fall semester).
  • Priority points available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors can be a maximum of 34 points (spring and fall semesters).
  • Priority points available to transfer students begin in the semester they start at Marist.

Student Involvement

The Office of Student Activities is the dynamic center of co-curricular life on campus. We are a student-centered department and are committed to creating a seamless Marist experience - we believe that both in and outside the classroom, learning and personal growth should be continuous during your entire time here.

Through our programs and personal interactions, we collaborate with students, faculty and staff members to provide diverse and balanced intellectual, cultural, and social programs. We aim for these programs to encourage student learning and development, awareness and responsible living, and enhance the mission of the university.

We are located on the third floor of the newly renovated Student Center, along with the 300-seat Nelly Goletti Theatre, multi-purpose meeting rooms, and the Health and Wellness Center. The Student Center is also home to the Cabaret, Student Lounge, and Student Government Association.

So why should you get involved?

  • Meet new people
  • Develop your leadership skills
  • Make a difference on and off campus
  • Network and build your resume
  • HAVE FUN!

And here's what's available to you:

You've just got to attend the Activities Fair! On the first Friday of the fall semester and the second Wednesday of the spring semester, all clubs and organizations will be looking for you!

The Office of Student Activities and the Student Programming Council (SPC) host many events on campus including the annual Spring Concert which has featured acts including Saint Motel, The Driver Era, A$AP Ferg, Bleachers, Jason Derulo, and many more! We also have speakers, actors, and comedians like SNL’s Sarah Sherman come to campus.

Involvement Opportunities

At Marist, there are over 90 different student clubs and organizations to choose from. Getting and staying involved is one of the most important things you can do while pursuing higher education. “Involvement” is any activity outside the classroom which enhances and contributes to student learning. Being involved can take many forms, from being a member of student government, or fraternity or sorority, to conducting research with a faculty member. It does not matter how you are involved, it only matters that you are!
