About Our Club

Future lawyers, legislators, and legal enthusiasts, discover Marist's Moot Court Club! Moot Court is an exercise in appellate advocacy where students argue a fictitious case before a panel of judges. While Moot Court is traditionally practiced at law schools, it is gaining popularity at undergraduate institutions as well.

Executive Board Members:

President: Alison Bowler

• The president serves as the club's representative and plays an active role in planning club activities. Their responsibilities include managing member and board meetings, evaluating events, reserving rooms, and performing any other tasks necessary to ensure the club meets its standards. Additionally, the president takes the lead in coordinating with SGA representatives.

Vice President: Patrick Gay

• The vice president is responsible for conducting meetings and providing assistance to the president as needed during planning and board meetings.

Meeting Times

• Summer: Weekly online prep sessions to prepare for the fall semester
• Fall: Two times a week and practice on one’s own time
• Spring: Once a month, usually Wednesdays

Earn Priority Points through Clubs and Activities

To earn one (1) point: Members must attend a minimum of 50% of club/organization meetings for the semester and 50% of club/organization activities.

To earn two (2) points: Members must attend a minimum of 50% of club/organization meetings for the semester and 75% of club/organization activities PLUS the community service event.

To earn three (3) points (executive board only): Officers must attend 50% of club meetings for the semester and 100% of club activities including community service. If executive board members do not complete all of the requirements to earn three points, they will be eligible to receive up to two points based on the above criteria.
