About Our Club
The Marist Club Men’s Basketball Team is a newly established club sports team who will be playing their inaugural season in the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA) in the 2026-2027 academic year. While the NCBBA restructures their conferences each September, we will likely be competing in the North American Region - East Conference. In the 2025-2026 season, teams in this conference ranged from schools in Connecticut(Yale, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, Quinnipiac), to schools around NYC(Manhattan, Iona), to schools on Long Island (Hofstra, Adelphi). While our main goal as a team will be to win, we are also striving to create a very close community of basketball players who don’t want the commitment of collegiate varsity basketball but would like to play at a more competitive level than intramurals.
Executive Board Members:
President: Sean Cronin
- Sean Cronin is a sophomore from Massapequa, New York with an undeclared major. Sean has been playing basketball constantly for almost his entire life, playing for both his AAU and school teams. Sean committed to Marist with the intention of founding a Club Men's Basketball Team, and has done just that in his freshman year. His goal in forming this team is to create a family-like environment of basketball players at Marist as an option for current and future students, while also winning as much as possible.
Vice-President: Giacomo Jacobs
- Giacomo Jacobs is a sophomore majoring in Global Studies and minoring in sports communication. He started playing basketball in third grade and has been in love with the game since. In the first couple of weeks at Marist, he started to play a role in forming the Club Men's Basketball team by advertising to interested students. Giacomo’s goal is to create a tight-knit community of basketball players and create a culture that will carry on for generations at Marist.
Treasurer: Alexander Kazanjian
- Alexander Kazanjian is a sophomore from Park Ridge, New Jersey and is a double major in Accounting and Finance. Alex has been playing basketball his whole life whether it's for his high school or in a rec league with his friends. During his early weeks at Marist, he recognized a need on campus; he stepped up to help found Marist Club Men's Basketball and currently serves as the team's Treasurer. His driving force behind starting the program was to build a highly competitive, tight-knit community where students could continue playing the sport they love at a high and competitive level.
Secretary: Ethan Sou
- Ethan Sou is the Secretary for Marist Club Men's Basketball and is from Providence, Rhode Island. He is a junior, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Finance. Basketball has been a blessing in Ethan’s life, allowing him to create lifelong friendships and learn important lessons about hard work, leadership, and perseverance. Ethan hopes to continue growing as a leader, teammate, and student while contributing to the success and culture of Marist Club Men's Basketball.
Join the Team
Tryouts will be held in the first few weeks of the fall semester, as well as a quick tryout in the spring semester to fill in for lost players. Any student enrolled at Marist University are welcomed to try out. The official construction of the roster will be based on each player’s combination of skill, effort, fit, and availability, as well as holding good academic standing and a willingness to put the team’s needs before their individual wants. Please email mensbasketball.club@marist.edu to ask any questions about our team.
Meeting Times
The Marist Club Men's Basketball team practices 2-3 days per week, with practices occurring in the McCann Center Rec Gym and McCann Center Arena.
